Lilit Matevosyan is an artist and researcher based in Sochi. Her inquiry focuses on the colonial history of the Caucasus, patterns of migration, and the lived experiences of its Indigenous communities in the region. She investigates how ecological transformation and touristic gentrification reshape local landscapes and collective memory. Matevosyan’s practice involves researching and preserving local personal and artistic archives, aiming to connect individual histories with broader historical narratives.
Working primarily with photography, video, and artist’s books, she integrates documentary and artistic strategies to develop long-term research-based projects. Collaboration, dialogue, and horizontal exchange are central to her approach. She is a co-founder of Aerarii, a self-organized initiative in Sochi.
