
Central to the project is an inquiry into the local Indigenous cultures, particularly the Shapsugs, a sub-ethnic group of the Circassians. Matevosyan’s engagement takes the form of field research, in-depth interviews, photography, text, and video.

The project is a documentary study of the past, realized through the prism of personal history. Based on childhood memories, the artist creates an autobiographical visual journey through the places that were once her home.
